The 2013 class is chalk-full of very talented wide receiver’s, and the timing couldn’t be any better for
a Georgia team that needs to reload after missing on a few key target’s in the 2012 class. If the sting of missing Jaquay Williams and JUCO stand out Cordarrelle Patterson still lingers, take comfort in the fact that the upcoming class has big, strong receiver’s everywhere you look. UGA has really turned up the heat on the 2013 class and the wide receiver position specifically. UGA already has 11 offers out to wide receiver’s and look for that list to grow as they get a better feel for where they stand with these prospects. After only taking one true receiver in the 2012 class, look for UGA to take 3, maybe even 4 receivers this class if they can get them. Here is an early look at the receivers offered that we stand the best chance at landing (in no particular order):
MARQUEZ NORTH 6-3/205 NC
The first thing that stands out when you see Marquez is his remarkable athletic ability for someone his size. Coming in at 205 lbs., North is a beast of a man who is built to contribute early wherever he ends up. One of the top overall players, possibly the top player in the state of North Carolina, expect to hear a lot more from North over the course of the year. Where we stand: UNC will most likely be UGA’s biggest competition for North, be he admittedly has serious interest in UGA and UGA has recruited NC very well the last few years.
TRAMEL TERRY 6-0/180 SC
Terry may be the most versatile athlete on UGA’s board in 2013. Terry is the 2013 version of Malcolm Mitchell. He has great speed and flexibility in his hips that would make him a solid Div. 1 corner if he chose to play on the defensive side of the ball. Where we stand: The one time UGA commit, is very seriously considering UGA for multiple reason. While many know that he has a very strong relationship with Brice Ramsey, a current UGA commit at the QB position, many don’t know that his family is very pro Georgia. It is known to be a Georgia-South Carolina battle for Terry with Clemson in third.
AHMAD FULWOOD 6-4/200 FL
Fulwood is hard to miss on the gridiron with his gigantic 6-4/200 frame. He is a man amongst boys and looks to only get bigger. He has very long legs and wide shoulders. Look for him to put on some more weight in college and become a very physical receiver on the next level. It is those long legs that help him outrun everyone on the field. Fulwood has good speed for his size and solid hands. Where we stand: Fulwood recently named a top 5 that includes UGA, Clemson, Florida, Ohio State and Alabama. Fulwood has built a solid relationship with Richt and UGA is one of the early favorites to make a strong push for Fulwood’s services.
REGGIE DAVIS 6-1/160 FL
Continuing with the theme of going out of state for wide receivers in this class, Reggie Davis is next on the list. Another Florida recruit, Davis is the definition of football fast. Despite being a little small, the kid can absolutely move on the gridiron. He has a great burst that can leave the rest of the field behind him. He isn’t just straight line fast like so many of the speedsters; he is very shifty and can make someone miss without skipping a beat. A homerun threat in the return game, Davis is a game-changer. He will need to add a good amount of weight, but at 6-1, he has the frame to do so. Where we stand: Davis is still very open with his recruitment and is open to everyone who has offered. Many think UF is a team to watch when it comes to Davis, but he still has a long way to go before making any decision.
DEMARCUS ROBINSON 6-3/205 GA
Demarcus is easily the best receiver in the state of Georgia for the 2013 class. He is the complete package when you look for a WR. While he doesn’t have blazing speed, he runs fast enough to run past a CB who can get out of his backpedal. He also has very consistent hands and runs his routes very well. My favorite attribute of Robinson’s is his ability to block downfield. This is a kid who will give you the effort downfield and will help his running back break a few because he can take the CB out of the play when someone wants to bounce it outside. Where we stand: Robinson seems to be favoring Alabama early in the recruiting process but still has interest in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Auburn as well. Robinson is another one who has a long way to go before he has a decision made.
TAJ WILLIAMS 6-4/170 FL
Taj is another tall, lanky receiver out of the state of Florida. I am VERY excited about Taj Williams. He has fantastic instincts for the football, which is a very underrated quality in a DB/WR. He is a downfield threat with his long strids and very good speed. Taj is one of those guys who always seems to come down with the football whether he is on defense or offense; he is simply a playmaker. Give him time to add some weight and he could flourish as a high caliber SEC wide receiver. Where we stand: Taj is very high on UGA and in my opinion, one of the most likely candidates on this list to sport the red and black next year. Whenever asked about recruiting he speaks of UGA and always has very fond things to say. It could end up being a battle between UGA and Clemson for Taj.
URIAH LEMAY 6-2/188 NC
Younger brother of current UGA QB Christian LeMay, Uriah has made a name for himself in North Carolina. The more tape I watch on Uriah, the more and more impressed I become of him and his potential. LeMay plays with as much confidence as I have seen in a kid his age. He can line up in the backfield or at the wide receiver position and be successful. He is also a dangerous return man. Uriah runs some of the best routes out of everyone on this list. Where we stand: Georgia has put itself in a good position for Uriah simply by having his brother on campus. However, it is by no means a lock that he is UGA bound. Many SEC and ACC programs are after LeMay, who is the teammate of another UGA target LB Peter Kalambayi.
