Recruiting Update 06Mar

Vaughters cuts list to nine (Scout $$$):
Schools from five different conferences made the cut for James Vaughters and his top nine are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Ohio State, Stanford, Texas, and USC.
UGA may offer Grady Jarrett:
Jarrett is a 6'1» 273 lb pure DT that was in Athens last weekend for Junior Day. During his most current visit to Athens Jarrett left some film for the coaches to watch and when he spoke with coach Garner he was told that they would really like him to come to their summer camp. When Jarrett spoke with UGASports.com about the 3-4 defense that the Bulldogs will be running he had this to say «I feel like I can fit in their style of 3-4, because they are not doing it like Alabama does with a big Terrance Cody type player. I think they want an athletic guy who can split the gaps, and I can definitely do that.»
«I have a 3.2 GPA and I am taking the ACT in November and SAT in December. I have already taken the SAT once and I scored a 950 in math and verbal.»
Alabama site with a few interesting recruiting comments:
what does your gut tell you about Crowell and Wright?AndrewBone:
Both have stated Alabama is in the lead. Gabe Wright visited UGA and pulled all schools even. My gut tells me Wright will end up at Alabama and Crowell to Georgia.
Two Georgia high school freshmen have received interest (Scout $$$): These are two of the best at their position in Georgia already and they have three more years of high school football.
Reuben Foster – LaGrange, Ga. – Troup County: Alabama and Georgia have both told him he has a spot at their program when that time comes. He is already one of the top linebackers in the state. He closes on the ball well, he delivers a lot of pop, and he finishes when he gets to the ball. Foster is currently 6-feet tall and 203 pounds.
Johnny O'Neal – Dublin, Ga. – West Laurens: South Carolina is the first school to offer him and Florida may not be too far behind according to his coach. O'Neal is already 6-foot-2, 230 pounds and he is a big hitter. The Gamecocks told him he has an offer from them and Florida has said he'll have one the minute he steps on their campus.

It is gradually becoming evident what the disconnect is between Georgia and Clarke Central offensive tackle Alan Posey (6-6, 310). The Bulldogs simply have a lot of other tackles above Posey on their board. Dalton's Watts Dantzler (6-7, 315), who visited UGA for junior day last Saturday, is their top target (Dantzler's father, the late Danny Dantzler, was a UGA letterman). Georgia also appears to lead for tackle Xzavier Ward (6-7, 255) of Colquitt County. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have also entered the sweepstakes for four-star tackles Bobby Hart (6-5, 270) of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Antonio Richardson (6-6, 310) of Nashville, Tenn.; and Brandon Shell (6-7, 310) of Goose Creek, S.C. It's not likely the Dogs would sign many more than two or three tackles. Pepperell's Kyle Harris is an interior lineman on their radar screen.
According to one depth chart I have seen we will lose Chapas to graduation along with both his backups, Fred Munzenmaier and Justin Fields.
The two guys that I think would make a nice fit are Tyler Cierski and Jacob Baxter.
Tyler Cierski is out of Mill Creek HS in Hoschton, GA and currently holds oan offer from Maryland which he picked up just yesterday. Cierski did attend the first Junior Day for the Bulldogs back in January. Cierski comes in at 6'1» 240 lbs, runs a 4.65 40 and can bench 325lbs. From the film that I have seen of him he reminds me a lot of Mike Alstott when he is running the ball, his speed is decent enough once he breaks though he can gain an extra 10-15 yards before he is brought down.
Jacob Baxter is out of Brookland Cayce HS in West Columbia, SC and currently does not hold any offers yet. Baxter comes in at 6'1» 240lbs and runs a 4.6 40. From the film I have watched Baxter is a straight between the tackles fullback just lowering his head and gaining what he can.
Maryland has offered Cierski but he sounds in these quotes like he is looking for a UGA offer.
«I know I would work my hardest to improve myself and the program I end up playing for. Georgia, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Alabama, South Carolina, Duke, North Carolina, Harvard, Miami and Auburn have all shown good interest so far. We'll see what happens from here. With Maryland being my first offer, I feel a sort of extra interest in them, although I know to keep my mind open to all opportunities. I have family in Maryland, which makes the offer more interesting.»
«Maryland had been paying me lots of attention, and so had UGA, Wake Forest, Alabama, Duke, UCONN, Virginia Tech, NC State South Carolina. I am happy to be receiving interest from the big Ivy League schools as well, because I realize it is not just what you do on the field but what you can accomplish after you graduate. That is very important to me.
