Tommorow I will be updating live from Butts-Mehre
From the I'm-an-idiot-on-many-levels department:
In a new memoir about her husband's affair, South Carolina first Lady Jenny Sanford writes that Mark Sanford sought her advice about his romance and how to deal with the media after she discovered his extramarital relationship.
Hey Jenny Slater has it's top ten most loathsome people in college football posted
4. Urban Meyer - Charges: We all thought Steve Spurrier was as bad as it could get in Gainesville, asshole-wise, but at least the Ol' Ballcoach had a sense of humor. Meyer combines nearly all of Spurrier's worst traits -- preening arrogance, a predilection of leaving his starting QBs in well into the waning minutes of blowouts against overmatched gimme opponents just to pad their stats -- without an ounce of wit or personality.
There's a big difference between the Bear Bryant statue on Alabama's Walk of Champions and the Nick Saban statue that's on rush order to be ready, if possible, by the April 17th spring game. Bryant's never going to lose another game as Alabama coach. His statue is safe from disenchanted bettors and misguided bricklayers alike.
The CFN solution has always been an eight team playoff with the six BCS conference winners, the top-ranked non-BCS conference champion, and one wild-card, but that might not be good enough if Washington really doesn't like the idea of the six big conferences getting preferential treatment. Instead, just have an eight team playoff of the top eight ranked conference champions, with the caveat that if either Notre Dame, Navy, or Army finishes in the top eight.
Bud Foster chased the South Florida opening
The news is particularly interesting that Foster applied, because he just agreed to an $800,000 deferred package to stay at Virginia Tech, after turning down Georgia for their defensive coordinator position
Today was the most dreaded day of the year for Georgia's football players: the start of mat drills, the legendary off-season workouts designed to severely test physical and mental endurance.
Tiger causing more problems. He is increasing insurance rates
Contracts from here on out will contain significantly tougher morals clauses, permitting the company to terminate the contract for actions that bring the comapny brand into disrepute, rather than the conviction of a felony that has been the standard for so long. As the cost of insurance goes up, that cost will be reflected in the value of the endorsement contract. As the risk goes up, the value of the contract, as in the amount paid to the athlete, will come down.

Great point about the premature nature of the Saban statue! I wonder if it will be like the Sports Illustrated cover jinx? One can hope, right?

The statue of Saban is ridiculous. We all agree that winning a NC is worthy of praise but a statue? Bear Bryant would not have gone for it were he still around.

As ridiculous as the NC Trophy at WalMart. How can a purported higher institute of learning stoop to these levels of indignity? This rabid hero-worship is an embarrassment to the state of Alabama. Ignorants are in control of the University System. How do you think university professors who give the school it's reputation with other Universities must feel to see this miscreational activity crowding the media headlines while they work industriously to create ideas in student's minds that may solve the problems of mankind, not just to massage the egos of those who have never intertained a creative thought? If ignorance is bliss, this will be the most blissed state ever!

I agree.

This Saban worship is akin to the quote from Tebow on a plaque at FU's stadium. This is all remindful of Moses coming down the Mountain and seeing the heathens worshipping a golden statue to Bal. And after the Super Bowl, Tebow's comparison to the Second Coming will be other than on his wedding night. These are harmful idolatries that true Christians shouldn't allow, but yet they are the ones abetting the idolatrous activity.
I'm waitin' for the Second Coming of Moses to put an end to this nonsense. Right now Ole Miss would be my Moses candidate followed by Arkansas and Georgia. Somebody needs to kick some SEC Sense into their asses.
