I-Bowl Musings
At first glance it seems that Georgia's appearance in a third tier bowl after a less than inspiring season would be close to meaningless. The Dawgs go into the game with a lame duck quarterback and no defensive coaching staff (after what is seen in the press as two failed hires). What remains to be seen in this game is how the team approaches the game. By that I mean the attitudeĀ displayed when they take the field. There has been a tendency in recent years for UGA to come out flat even in big games. However, if the Dawgs come out with an attitude and get after A&M early and stay fired up for the entire game , Georgia will not only win the game but set a positive tone going into off-season workouts and spring drills. There is no question that UGA is the more talented team. Questions do exist concerning team motivation and spirit.
This game should play out much like the Tech game. A&M has a powerfull offense. That offense will not be able to score if it is watching the Dawg's offense run the ball effectively. Just like at Tech, Georgia must establish the run - continue to run - run some more - then throw to A.J. (and the other young receivers) on second and one - not third and twelve. The offensive line will again be the key to the win.
If Coach Richt has control over the the emotional level of the team and can unleash the resident talent from the opening whistle - it's a win and a big positive for next year.
